We worked at the Barunga Festival where the community hosted football games, basketball games, concerts, hip hop dance competitions, cultural activities and displays etc.
It was interesting on the first night and was a bit nerve racking. Some of the kids were throwing rocks at our caravan until we told them to come over to us, then they all ran away. Then there were people yelling throughout the night. It was a bit scary. Anyway, the festival went well. It was very busy for us in the food van. We worked 37 hours in three and a bit days!

There were so many dogs around in this community. They were absolutely everywhere! This dog was a good one though. She sat when she was told, so we gave her a treat. |
On the last night there was supposed to be a disco, in the end it was a hip hop dance off that went till 3am 50metres from our camp. It was fun for the first couple of hours, but then when we really needed to sleep it was annoying! Then at 4am we found two kids under one of the trucks, so Chris put the spotlight on them and they ran off. Then at 5:30am they let fireworks off just in front of our truck!!! We were out of there first thing in the morning!!!

The road in to Barunga was single lane and got surprisingly busy hence the dirt sides to move onto. |
